How do I find volunteer opportunities?

To find volunteer opportunities you will need to log in to your account and select the “Opportunities” tab on the left side of the page. When you see an opportunity that you would like to participate in, click the “view details” button to read more about the opportunity. Once prompted to the details page, click the blue “respond” button to register.

What does the "Impact Value" on my profile mean?

We know that putting numbers to volunteer hours will never do them justice, but it is one way to show the contribution that individuals and organizations make in our communities. The “Impact Value” helps acknowledge individuals like you who dedicate their time, talents, and energy to making a difference. It also allows charitable organizations to quantify the enormous value that volunteers provide.

How do I check-in for an event?

What is a user group?

A user group is a way to group qualifying volunteers under a single "umbrella" so that volunteers and organizations can engage community initiatives as a group and measure group engagement. A user group may be comprised of individuals from an area, division, department, ERG, or other group at the Lab whose members volunteer as agents of their larger affiliation. It can also be a group of selected volunteers who have needed expertise or training in an area (for example, volunteers who are scientists). Click here to read more about user groups.

How current does my background check need to be to work with youth?

Participants must have a background check conducted by Berkeley Lab within the last 5 years. If a background check is expired, the portal will notify the K-12 team and they will assist you with next steps.

Can I create a team opportunity with my area/division/department? Can I advertise an opportunity with my team?

Yes, certain opportunities will have a feature enabled that will allow a team response. If you do not see the feature and would like to sign-up for an opportunity as a group, please contact the site manager listed under that opportunity. Visit this site to read more about this feature.

Yes, an administrator can help communicate the opportunity via the portal's communications tool.

Can I suggest volunteer opportunities to be featured on the platform?

Yes, to suggest volunteering opportunities, please login to your account and fill out the form displayed on the main page.

Can we use the platform for fundraising campaigns?

Unfortunately we do not have the ability to fundraise using this platform.
