2024 Berkeley Juneteenth & San Francisco Pride Events

Berkeley Lab employees have been busy this summer, tabling at local events including the Berkeley Juneteenth Festival and the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade. Through these events, Berkeley Lab is fostering connections with the community and sharing its mission and values with a broader audience.

Hundreds of visitors engaged with the Lab’s booths this summer, where they had a chance to learn about our world-leading science, explore internship and career opportunities, and engage in hands-on activities.

A Berkeley Lab shuttle was beautifully decorated for the SF Pride Parade with colorful balloons, banners, and beakers. Our float theme this year was "Beakers of Love" inspired by the 2024 SF Pride theme "Beacon of Love." More than 75 Lab employees, along with  family and friends, marched in our contingent, chanting "Let's go science, we love science!"

The Lab's participation in these events could not have happened without the engagement and leadership from the African American Employee Resource Group (AAERG), the LAMBDA Alliance, the Government and Community Relations (GCR) office, and employees from across the Lab who volunteered their time and energy.
