State Government Relations
Managed by the University of California since its inception in 1931, Berkeley Lab has a long history of collaboration with states across the country. The State of California, for example, ranks as the Lab's largest research partner after the federal government.
Berkeley Lab works with states to deliver actionable science and breakthrough technologies in many areas, including advancing reliable, abundant, and affordable energy; developing new water treatment and desalination technologies and groundwater recharge strategies; expanding cost-effective domestic critical materials supplies; strengthening forest management and utilizing forest and farm biomass; mitigating extreme events and natural disasters; and supporting expanded entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing, and workforce development.
