For the first time, Berkeley Lab’s Latin American and Native American (LANA) Employee Resource Group and Community Relations Office teamed up to participate in the 23rd Street Merchants Association's Cinco de Mayo Festival. The event, held annually along Richmond's 23rd Street corridor since 2005, draws thousands of visitors and celebrates the vibrant culture, traditions, and contributions of the Richmond community.
Berkeley Lab’s presence at the festival allowed staff to connect with the local community and share information about the Lab’s work. The Lab’s booth highlighted its world-leading science, as well as internship and career opportunities available to students and job seekers. Visitors also enjoyed interactive, hands-on activities, including a microscope station where they could examine everyday objects up close, and a banana piano that demonstrated basic principles of circuitry and electrical conductivity in a fun, engaging way.
